As we all know, the pandemic hit families really hard! During this period, Preston (owner) started Special Vinyls Unit out of his living room. He and his wife (fiance at the time) were both laid off. So, to help make up for the loss of income, he started building custom cornhole boards while she was making custom signs and hair bows. In September of 2020, he decided to invest in a large format printer. He went back to work. Good thing he was still getting orders for cornhole boards and pictures. In January 2021, he left his job as a Union Ironworker and started Special Vinyl’s Unit. Preston then leased a storefront and shop in his hometown of Lakewood, Ohio.
